Gobble gobble! Time to make the turkey!

Make an adorable felt turkey centerpiece for the holiday table. No sewing machine required for this cutie! The turkey is sewn by hand using a whipstitch. Simply download the free turkey template and follow the instructions below.

Supplies needed:

  • Yellow, Orange, Green and Brown Felt Fabric

  • Turkey Pattern Pieces (Click here to download)

  • Glue (Hot Glue Gun Recommended)

  • 1 pair of plastic Google Eyes

  • Polyester Stuffing

  • Embroidery needle

  • Embroidery Floss (yellow, orange, green and brown)

  • Scissors

  • Pins or marker

Instructions:

  1. Cut pattern pieces from pattern pages.

  2. Pin large feathers pattern on two layers of orange felt fabric and cut one.

  3. Pin medium feathers pattern on two layers of yellow felt fabric and cut one.

  4. Pin small feathers pattern on two layers of green felt fabric and cut one.

  5. Pin body pattern on two layers of brown felt fabric and cut one.

  6. Whipstitch each set of feathers and body together using needle and matching colored embroidery floss leaving about 2 inches open in order to stuff (see illustration of whipstitch technique below).

  7. Stuff each set of feathers and body with polyester stuffing and finish stitching. Tie to secure.

  8. Glue the google eyes to the turkey’s face.

  9. Cut a small triangle from yellow felt fabric for the beak and a waddle from orange felt fabric. Glue the waddle to the beak. Glue the beak to the turkey’s face.

  10. Pin turkey’s feet pattern to one layer of brown felt and glue to the bottom of turkey body.

  11. Hot glue the large feathers to the medium feathers making sure they line up along the bottom.

  12. Hot glue the small feathers to the medium feathers making sure they line up along the bottom.

  13. Hot glue the body to the small feathers lining up the bottom of the body with the bottom of the feathers.
